Come on America
The #BlackLivesMatter movement has clearly activated the American people. Freedom is a lofty noun – it is like love, it is hard to tell if it is present or not. Can you see it, or feel it? Find the freedom from within you right now.
Freedom
free·dom /ˈfrēdəm/ noun
The power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint.
During the past few months, I have been looking for a new venture to utilize my strength in design and technology. Because blogging combines visuals with technical objectives of connecting to a wider audience, I thought it could be a great platform for me to explore. Therefore I began working to bring my art to people outside of my network, to people like you.
As a result, one of my first designs for my t-shirt shop + apparel is ‘Let me people flow’. Generally speaking, this slogan plays off of the historical quote from the Book of Exodus and Moses asking the Pharoah to ‘Let my people go’. Clearly, this experience is not unlike current times. Notwithstanding the test of time, this phrase also highlights turmoil, regret, anger and confusion of today. Thus, by looking back, we all can see how similar the histories really are.
Designers freedom + heart
Following from all the unrest happening today, I need to add something positive for my people that didn’t lean towards a reign of plight, but to a feeling of confidence and wisdom. Firstly, I am hopeful that people across the globe begin talking to one another about their feelings. Moreover, that personal stories are understood in a constructive and peaceful way, and are heard with the “right ear” leaning in. Presently, it takes time and reparations are most likely in order, to streamline the long awaited hurt. Brushing this symptom by is so common. Too many times times times sweeping the story under the rug. If you are feeling overwhelmed or angry, know that there are many citizens that are at your side.
